My wife, who is an architect, is having the same problems here in Scotland. Projects on hold or aborted.

They are down to working a 4 day week.

We as designers have been lucky not to get hit by it. We have been finding that print related work has dried up but online work has been steady if not increasing. More companies are turning to the web as they can reach a bigger audience.

We are also finding more people starting up there own business, meaning more work for us with websites etc.

We work in many areas, so i can tell u our impressive in each one...
- in architectural or medium/big projects...really low activity
- in interior design... less budget but the good news is that creativity and designers (really "thinkers" designers) are being more and more apreciated. Easy to understand, people have less money, then they want to optimize it... our big fighting at this moment is optimize and optimize inversors money, and our tool must be CREATIVITY
- in communication, good moments as Dojo says... people and business need to spend in looking for clients.
Another thing going on is people changing business or starting one...so new projects... but little budgets

Up creativity and creatives!! is our moment.... bad moment for "only sellers"
Good luck everybody!

That's right. Although i am not architect or designer, i feel it is tough for them when i contact with them. And it is true. Time for Interior designer is much easier than architects. Even our honest client Zaha hadid architects, they have no more activity than last year.

But one the other hand , my client HBA interior design have more activity . No matter where their branch office is , works are still increasing. They need 3D support even they have in-house renderers.

so our Render Farm and 200-300pc does work a lot.

One of the worst news with this crisis is natural talents with less oportunities, but one thing i coudnt imagine is Zaha Hadid with no work, and others less espectacular but with innovative spirit too.
So... Zaha Hadid Architecture is your client? wow, please spend some works talking us about this experience, and share some images!
Definitively you are in the top of 3D creators, Mia

hi, here i have to clear that i don't mean they have no work. Compared before, the quantity of their works has declined as other counterparts. Most of works came from Middel East .And we still have some their works to do .. ... I would like to show our products of their design. No matter it is rendering or animation. However, zaha has strict requirments to release their work in public for copyright. we are not allowed to show their work without permision. So usually we are limited to show our producs of their design. But you can check my page . There are some of their design in Dubai, etc.

Besides, we wanna be clients of SOM. KPF,TVS, Coop-himmeblau,HOK, etc. Some of them has negotiated with us . Some are waiting to deep -develop . So you see, i have hard work to carry out. Not easy.

hello, in my country that's going a bit. but our industrial context was never the best for industrial designers. in Argentina are concerned that before this crisis a political situation which is not conducive to the development indutrial.
one of the options that we have the Argentine designers freelance designing for industrialized countries, as our exchange for favors and a good income for the companies to minimize design costs. this happens also in china, india and brazil for example. the problem that is not conducive to living in many talents within a First World

which is the condition in china? there is no doubt that china is a great product, as well as a significant proportion will have population / talents.
Brazil in South America has an industrial policy with some interesting parallels
beyond all understand a situation where the system opens the way because the world has talents that will be adapted to the situation generated by the options listed for this moment.
Argentina for example, had in its history the opportunity to be an industrialized country, which did not go ... but those here are prepared for the industry had to adapt "With what is" true that limits innovation and major projects, but nothing stops.
In my country, as in all South American countries, are not monumental works with major innovations (style, new materials ,....), things take new paths. we can discuss many issues ... but roads are tailored to a particular reality.
